They are a large genus of perennials some of which are clump forming. Leaves are narrow, oval and usually toothed, some are lightly hairy. Flowers are tiny, star or saucer shape and borne on upright spikes or loose on tall racemes. The flowers of some species are borne on stems that have a tendency to trail. Dwarf species are ideal for growing in rock gardens or patio pots and tubs and window boxes.

These are a very useful gardening plant and can be used in most locations. Make sure you grow some of these easy and versatile gardening plants. Where: Ideal for borders and beds. The small species are perfect for rock gardens. They are excellent for ground cover. Grown in patio pots and tubs or window boxes they make an excellent display for many weeks. Site: Grow them in full sun, they thrive in it! They will also do well in partial shade. Soil: Any rich, moist but free draining soil.
