How To Propagate And Grow
Thunbergia


Thunbergia originate from Southern and Central Africa, Madagascar, India and Asia and are a large genus annual twining climbers with a species of around one hundred.

Leaves are triangular or heart shaped with toothed edges or oval and narrow.

Flowers are tubular or trumpet shaped or five petal and round.

Family: Acanthaceae

Species: T. alata




Common Names: Black eyed susan.

Classification: Annual.

Height: 3m (120inches).

Flowering: Throughout summer.

Usage: Ideal for the back of borders and beds climbing up trellis.

Or climbing through shrubs or small trees or climbing up pergolas or indeed climbing up anything.

This is a very useful garden plant and can be used effectively in most garden settings.

Site: Grow them in full sun they thrive in it!

Will also do well in partial shade

Soil: Fertile but free draining soil.

Keep well watered during the summer months to encourage lots of lush new growth and a continuous abundance of flowers.


Propagation Methods: By seed in spring.

How to sow seeds

By softwood cuttings towards end of summer.

By semi ripe cuttings in summer planted in heated propagator to maintain heat at base which will encourage new root growth.
