How to Propagate and Grow
Stipa


Stipa originate from Southern Europe, Southern America and New Zealand and are a genus of perennials with over three hunderd species.

Leaves are long and linear.

Flowers are tiny in loose panicles on tall stems.


Genus: Stipa

Family: Graminae/Poaceae

Species: S. gigantea




Common Names: Giant feather grass, needle grass.

Classification: Perennial.

Height: 2.5m (8foot).

Flowering: From summer through autumn.

Usage: Ideal for the back of larger borders and beds. Grow them in swathes for real dramitic effects.

They grow well and look good with bamboos.

This is an excellent focal plant, especially in lawns.

Can be grown and are very effective in patio pots and tubs.

Site: Grow them in full sun, they thrive in it!

Soil: Any rich but very free draining soil.
