Gladiolus originate from Europe, The Middle East and Africa and are a genus of cormous spring, summer and autumn flowering bulbs with a large species of over one hundred and eighty.
Leaves are long, basal and erect.
Flowers are borne on one side of an upright spike and are densley packed.

Common Names: Sword Lily.

Flowering: Winter through spring.
Usage: They are ideal for spring flowering borders or beds.
They are excellent as cut flowers.

They need shade from winds and may need staking.
Soil: Any rich and free draining soil.
Propagation Methods: By division in early spring.
By cormlets in late winter, early spring.
