Sidalcea originate from North America and are a genus of perennials.

Leaves are rounded, divided, slightly lobed, similar to butter cup.

Flowers are cup shaped and shiney.

Family: Malvaceae

Species: S. malviflora

Common Names: Checker mallow, chequer mallow, checker bloom.

Classification: Perennial.

Height: 90cm (36inches).

Flowering: From summer through autumn.

Usage: Ideal for borders and beds.

Site: Grow them in full sun, they thrive in it!

Sidalcea will also tolerate partial shade.

Soil: Any rich, moist but free draining soil.

Propagation Methods: By division in spring.
