How to Propagate and Grow
Potentilla


Potentilla are a native of Europe and are a large genus of shrubby perennials.

They are grown mainly for their long flowering season and with there being dwarf and tall species, their versatile use.

Leaves are three palmate, five palmate or seven palmate, strawberry shaped.

Flowers are saucer shaped and flat.

Family: Rosaceae

Species: P. nepalensis




Common Names: Potentilla, Nepal cinquefoil, cinquefoil.

Classification: Perennial.

Height: 45cm (18inches).

Flowering: From spring through autumn.

Usage: Ideal for ground cover in borders and beds.

Dwarf potentilla are ideal in rock gardens.

Site: Grow them in full sun, they thrive in it!

Soil: Any free draining soil.


Propagation Methods: By seed in autumn.

Best germination temperature: 70 deg F.

Time from sowing to germiantion: 2 months onwards.

Slow germination, so be patient!
