How to Propagate and Grow
Platycodon


Platycodon originate from China, Japan and Eastern Siberia and are genus of one species of clump forming perennials.

Leaves are oval and toothed.

Flowers are balloon shape.


Genus: Platycodon

Family: Campanulaceae

Species: P. grandiflorus




Common Names: Balloon flower.

Classification: Perennial.

Height: 60cm (24inches).

Flowering: Throughout summer.

Usage: Ideal for borders and beds.

Site: Grow them in full sun, they thrive in it!

They will also do well in partial shade.

Soil: Any rich, moist but free draining soil.


Propagation Methods: By seed in spring.

Best germination tremperature: 70 deg F.

Time from sowing to germination: 1 month onwards.

Can be very slow at germinating, so be patient!

How to sow seeds

By basal cuttings in mid summer.

By division in summer.
