How to Propagate and Grow Paeonia
Peonia originate from China, North America and temperate regions of Europe and is a genus of perennials with a species of over thirty.
Leaves are oval and deeply divided or two pinnate with deeply cut lobes or lance shape, divided in leaflets, or divided into nine leaflets and lance shape and most combinations in between. Most leaves are glossy. It all depends on the species.
Flowers are large, showy and colourful and can be single, double, semi-double or anemone form. Some are even fragrant.

Common Names: Peony, tree peony.
Classification: Perennial.
Height: 90cm (36inches).
Flowering: From spring through summer.
Usage: Ideal for borders and beds.
Peony make an ideal cut flower.
Grow them in patio tubs and pots for a stunning display.
Site: Grow them in full sun, they thrive in it!
They will also do well in partial shade.
Soil: Any moist but free draining soil.
Propagation Methods: By seed in autumn or very early winter.
Scarify seeds before sowing.
How to sacrify seeds
After scarifying seeds place them in moist horticultural sand.
Keep in shade and keep the sand moist.
Inspect seeds every three weeks or so.
As soon as radicles appear on the seeds sow them in compost and keep compost moist and in shade.
These seeds can take a year onwards to germinate, so you need to be very patient!
It is definetly worth the long wait!!!
