Monocots

Monocots are a member of a subclass of Angiosperms, (plants that have a formation of flowers and fruits that contain seeds), which have one cotyledon, (seed leaf within a seed), in their seeds.

Monocots usually have a fibrous root system, although some of which may become fairly large.

Monocots include lilies and their relatives, grasses and their relatives, palms, iris, bamboo, grains and orchids.
