How to Propagate and Grow
Monarda


Monarda originate from North America and are a genus of clump forming and rhizomatous perennials.

Leaves are aromatic, toothed and oval in shape.

Flowers are two lipped and form in tight, dense whorls.

Family: Labiatae/Lamiaceae

Species: M. fistulosa







Common Names: Bergamot, sweet bergamot bee balm, oswego tea.

Classification: Perennial.

Height: 90cm (36inches).

Flowering: From summer through autumn.

Usage: Ideal for borders and beds.

Bees are attracted to these garden plants, so use them in wildlife or cottage gardens.

Site: Grow them in full sun, they thrive in it!

They will also do well in partial shade.

Soil: Any moist but free draining soil.


Propagation Methods: By seed in spring.

Best germination temperature: 70 deg F.

Time from sowing to germination: 3 - 8 weeks.
