How to Propagate and Grow Meconopsis

Common Names: Himalayan blue poppy.
Classification: Perennial.
Height: 1.2m (48inches).
Flowering: From summer through autumn.
Usage: Ideal for borders and beds. Mecenopisis make excellent focal plants. Plant them in groups and swathes under trees for dramatic a effect.
Site: Mecenopsis prefer a shaded spot. Mecenopsis will also do well in full sun.
Soil: Any rich, moist but free draining soil.
Propagation Methods: By seed when ripe in summer or autumn.
You must sow this seed immediately after collecting, this will increase your propagation rate dramatically.
Older seed takes longer and germination rate is reduced.
Do not cover seeds with compost.
Cover seeds with a light covering of vermiculite.
Best germination temperature: 50 deg F.
Time from sowing to germination: 3 - 28 days.
