How to Propagate and Grow Ligularia
Genus: Ligularia Family: Asteraceae/Compositae
Species: L. dentata
Common Names: Big leaf golden ray, golden ray, golden groundsel.
Classification: Perennial.
Height: 90cm (36inches).
Flowering: Throughout summer.
Usage: Ideal for borders and beds. Ligularia are ideal for bog gardens. Plant ligularia next to ponds in large groups. Or follow the contours of an informal pond with deep swathes of ligularia.
Site: Ligularia prefer partial shade but will tolerate full sun.
Soil: Any fertile, moist but free draining soil that has been deeply dug. (Ligularia like to put their roots down a long way).
Propagation Methods: By seed in spring.
Best germination temperature: 70 deg F.
Time from sowing to germination: 1 month onwards.
Can be very slow germination, so be patient!
