How to Propagate and Grow
Liatris


Liatris originate from North America and are a genus of corm rooted, clump forming perennials.

Leaves are glossy, lance shape, almost grass like which are erect.

Flowers are upright, bottle brush shape with dense feathery spikes.

Family: Asteraceae/Compositae

Species: L. spicata




















Common Names: Gayfeather, spike, blazing star.

Classification: Perennial.

Height: 120cm (48inches).

Flowering: From summer through autumn.

Usage: Ideal for the middle to back of borders and beds.

They make ideal cut flowers.

Site: Grow them in full sun, they thrive in it!

Soil: Any rich, moist but free draining soil.


Propagation Methods: By seed in autumn.

Best germination temperature: 70 deg F.

Time from sowing to germination: 2 months onwards.

Very slow germination, so be patient!
