Common Names: Lewisia.

Classification: Perennial.

Height: 30cm (12inches).

Flowering:Throughout summer.

Usage: This garden plant is ideal for rockeries or grow them in the crevices of paths and walls.

Grown in smallish patio pots and tubs they make a brilliant display.

Ideal for the front or edging of borders and general beds.

Site: Lewisia prefer partial shade.

Soil: Lewisia require a very fertile and extremely well drained soil.

Add plenty of medium grit to the soil before planting.

If planting in pots make sure you add plenty of fine grit. (Best mix: two parts potting compost/one part fine grit).


Propagation Methods: By seed in spring or early autumn.

How to Sow seeds (opens in new window)

By division in early summer.

By semi-ripe cuttings in early summer.
