How to Propagate and Grow
Leucanthemum


Leucanthemum orginate from Europe and Asia and are a genus of perennials.

Leaves are lance shaped or spoon shaped and some are toothed.

Flowers are single, semi double or double and mostly daisy like.

These are an extremely reliable and robust perennial garden ( yard ) plant giving weeks and weeks of perpetual flowers throughout the summer season and well into autumn.


Genus: Leucanthemum

Family: Asteraceae/Compositae

Species: x superbum




Common Names: Shasta daisy, ox eye daisy.

Classification: Perennial.

Height: 90cm (36inches).

Flowering: Throughout summer.

Usage: Ideal for borders and beds.

They are great for patio tubs and pots, but may need support.

Excellent as cut flowers.

Site: Grow them in full sun, they thrive in it!

They will also do well in partial shade.

Soil: Any rich, moist but free draining soil.


Propagation Methods: By seed in spring.

Do not cover seeds with compost.

Cover seeds with a light covering of vermiculite.

Keep in light throughout germination.

Best germination temperature: 70 deg F.

Time from sowing to germination: 3 - 21 days.
