How to Propagate and Grow Houttuynia
Houttuynia originate from the Himalayas, China, Japan and South East Asia and are a genus of rhizomatous perennials.
Leaves are fragrant, heart shaped and leathery.
Flowers are tiny and form in bracts.
This is a very good ground cover garden plant.
However, it is extremely invasive, so plant with extreme care and be prepared to fight a loosing battle trying to contain it!

Common Names: Houttuynia.
Classification: Perennial.
Height: 30cm (12inches).
Flowering: Throughout spring.
Usage: Ideal for the front to middle of borders and beds.
They are an excellent ground cover plant, but are invasive.
Can be grown and do exceedingly well as marginal water plants.
Site: Grow in full sun, they thrive in it!
They will also do well in partial shade.
Soil: Any humus rich, continuously moist, but not water-logged soil.
Propagation Methods: By seed in spring.
Best germination temperature: 50 deg F.
Time from sowing to germination: 2 - 3 months, so be patient!
