Family: Asteraceae/Compositae

Species: H. decapetalus






Common Names: Sunflower.

Classification: Perennial.

Height: 120cm (48inches).

Flowering: From summer through to autumn.

Usage: Ideal at the back of borders and beds.

They make an ideal cut flower.

Site: Grow them in full sun, they thrive in it!

Soil: Any rich and free draining soil.


Propagation Methods: By seed in spring.

Best germination temperature: 40 deg F.

Time from sowing to germination: 3 months onwards.

Germination is very slow, so be patient!

Germiantion is very sparodic. Transplant your emerging seedlings as soon as they are large enough to handle.

Make sure you do not disturb remaining seeds during in transplanting.
