Hedyotis


Hedyotis, syn. Houstonia originate from South Eastern USA and are a genus of mat forming perennials.

Leaves are small in tight mats.

Flowers are four petal star shaped .

This garden plant is a vigorous grower, so care should be taken when you select its planting position.

Species: H. coronarium





Common Names: Hedyotis, Houstonia.

Classification: Perennial.

Height: 8cm (3inches).

Flowering: Throughout summer.

Usage: Ideal for the front of borders and beds.

Well suited to growing in rock gardens.

To soften hard landscaping, grow them at the edge and in the joints of stone paths.

Site: Grow them in partial shade for best results!

Soil: Fertile but free draining soil.


Propagation Methods: By seed in autumn.
