How to Propagate and Grow
Filipendula


Filipendula originate from Europe and Asia and are a genus of perennials.

Leaves are green, toothed and fern like or lance shape and dark green and light green or yellow marked.

Flowers are small, rounded and are borne on very dense panicles.


Genus: Filipendula

Family: Rosaceae

Species: F. purpurea


Common Names: Meadowsweet, Japanese meadowsweet.

Classification: Perennial.

Height: 90cm (36inches).

Flowering: From early to mid/late summer.

Usage: Ideal for middle to back of borders.

They are good as cut flowers.

Site: Grow them in full sun, they thrive in it!

They will also do well in partial shade.

Soil: Any free draining soil.


Propagation Methods: By seed in spring or autumn.

To increase your germination rate sow these seeds immediately after you have collected them.

Best germination temperature: 70 deg F.

Time from sowing to germination: 24 - 30 weeks onwards.

Slow to germinate, so be patient!
