How to Propagate and Grow
Erodium


Erodium are native to Europe, Australia, South America, Asia and the Mediterranean regions and are a genus of mound forming perrenials with around sixty species.

Leaves are attractive, pinnate or two pinnate and can be hairy, toothed or very fine and fern like.

Flowers are single and saucer shape and borne in short or long stemmed umbels.

These gardening plants have a long flowering period, from spring right through to end of summer.

All species will do well in dry or drought conditions.

Common Names: Herons bill, heronbill, stork's bill.

Classification: Perennial.

Height: 45cm (18inches).

Where to plant info

This is one of those must have gardening plants that perform exceedingly well and are very easy to care for.

Where: Ideal for the front borders and beds.

These garden plants are well suited to growing in rock gardens.

They are excellent as ground cover plants, so use them where you need to cover ground quickly.

Site: Grow them in full sun, they thrive in it!

Soil: Any humus rich and very free draining soil.


Propagation info:

By seed when ripe.

For best germination results sow these seeds as soon as you collect them.

Best germination temperature: 70 deg F.

Time from sowing to germination: very slow and sparodic, three months onwards, so be patient!

How to sow seeds

By division in spring.
