How to Propagate and Grow Eremurus
Eremurus originate from Central Asia and are a genus of fleshy rooted perennials.
Leaves are linear and form in rosettes or are strap shaped and formed in rosettes.
Flowers are borne in long, upright, tight racemes.

Species: E. robustus
Common Names: Foxtail lily, desert candle, King's spear.
Classification: Perennial.
Height: 300cm (120inches).
Flowering: From early spring through to summer.
Usage: Ideal for back of borders.
Site: Grow them in full sun, they thrive in it!
They are best grown in a sheltered spot away from winds and may need staking.
Soil: Any fertile and free draining soil.
Propagation Methods: By seed in autumn.
Sow seed immediately after it has been collected. With older seed germination is very sparodic and slow.
Soak fresh seeds in warm water for 24 hours prior to sowing and you will increase the germination rate to almost 100%.
Best germination temperature: 60 deg F.
Time from sowing to germination: fresh seed, 7 - 21 days.
Time from sowing to germination: older seed, unpredictable.
How to sow seeds
Division after flowering in late summer/early autumn.
