How to Propagate and Grow
Echium


Echium originates from the Canary Islands and is a genus of perennials.

Leaves have silver hairs, form in rosettes and are narrow lance shape.

Flowers are formed in a dense funnel shaped rosette.


Genus: Echium

Family: Boraginaceae

Species: E. vulgare


Common Names: Vipers bugloss, bugloss.

Classification: Perennial.

Height: 50cm (20inches).

Flowering: From spring through to end of summer.

Usage: Ideal for mixed borders.

They are an excellent plant for attracting bees.

Site: Grow them in full sun, they thrive in it!

Soil: Any rich and free draining soil.


Propagation Methods: By seed in summer.

Best germination temperature: 40 deg F.

Time from sowing to germination: 3 - 9 months.

Very slow and sparodic germination, so be patient!
