How to Propagate and Grow
Dodecatheon


Dodecatheon originate from North America and are a genus of clump forming perennials.

Leaves are long and ovate and can be toothed.

Flowers in umbles of upto fifeteen to twenty, petals are reflexed.


Genus: Dodecatheon

Family: Primulaceae

Species: D. clevlandii


Common Names: American cowslip, Shooting star.

Classification: Perennial.

Height: 40cm (16inches).

Flowering: From spring through to summer.

Usage: Ideal for damp borders planted with moisture loving plants.

Site: Grow them in full sun, they thrive in it!

They will also do well in partial shade.

Soil: Acidic, humus rich and free draining.


Propagation Methods: By seed in autumn.

Before sowing place seeds in a dry sealed container inside a refridgerator for 3 weeks.

Then sow normally in compost.

Best germination temperature: 70 deg F.

Time from sowing to germination: 3 - 6 weeks.
