Dierama


Dierama originate from South Africa and are a genus of clump forming, cormous perennials.

Leaves are wiry, arching and grass like.

Flowers are pendant, bell shape or tube shape.


Genus: Dierama

Family: Iridaceae

Species: D. dracomontanum




Common Names: Angels fishing rod, wand flower.

Classification: Perennial tuber.

Height: 75cm (30inches).

Flowering: Throughout summer.

Usage: Ideal for moist borders and beds. Looks best when grown in groups of about five plants.

Grow this garden plant in groups by the side of ponds for an interesting effect.

Site: Grow them in full sun, they thrive in it!

They also prefer a site shaded from winds.

Soil: Any moist but free draining soil.


Propagation Methods: By seed in spring or autumn.
