Dicots

Dicots are a member of a subclass of Angiosperms, (plants that have a formation of flowers and fruits that contain seeds), which have two cotyledons, (seed leaves within a seed), in their seeds.

A dicot flower usually has a taproot with finer branching lateral roots. The flower petals are in fours or fives and the stems are herbaceous or woody.

Dicots include trees, shrubs and most of the common flowering plants, apart from lilies.
