How to Propagate and Grow
Corydalis


Corydalis originate from areas of the Northern Hemisphere and are a large genus of fibrous rooted or tuberous perennials.

Leaves are tiny, soft and delicate almost fern like.

Flowers are long tubular, two lipped and spured.

Flower colours, depending on species, are white, yellow, blue, white and yellow, red and white, or pink.

Flowering: From spring right through summer.


Where to plant info

Corydalis are delicate, pretty flowered, attractive foilaged gardening plants and are commonly used in many garden settings.

Where: Ideal for the front of borders.

They make excellent ground cover plants.

Grow them in rock gardens where they will give an excellent display.

Plant them in patio tubs and pots for an eye-catching display.

Site: Grow them in full sun, they thrive in it!

Corydalis will also do well in partial shade.

Soil: Any rich and free draining soil.

By seed from early to late spring.

Best germination temperature: 70 deg F.

Time from sowing to germination: 12 - 18 weeks.

Very slow at germinating so be patient!

How to sow seeds

Corydalis self seed profusely, so make the most of this.

Carefully dig up the clumps of seedlings in spring and transplant them to where you want them to grow. More plants free for life!

By division in early spring.
