Coreopsis


Coreopsis originate from Central and North America and Mexico and are a large genus of perennials.

Leaves are palmately lobed or lance shaped.

Flowers are single, florets or doubled with ragged edges.

These gardening plants are well suited to hot dry conditions and will survive in these sort of conditions where other plants will fail.

Common Names: Tickseed.

Classification: Perennial.

Height: 30cm to 60cm (36inches to 24inches).

Flowering: From early to late summer.


Where to plant info

Coreopsis are exceedingly tolerent of hot, dry conditions. So, they are ideal if your garden is sun-baked.

Where: Ideal for borders and beds.

They are excellent as cut flowers.

Site: Grow them in full sun, they thrive in it!

Soil: Any rich and free draining soil.


Propagation info

By seed in in spring.

Best germination temperature: 70 deg F.

Do not cover seeds with compost, they need light to germinate.

Time from sowing to germination: 2 -14 days.
