How to Propagate and Grow
Chrysanthemum


Chrysanthemum originate from China and Japan and are a genus of perennials with over two hundred species.

Leaves are lobed and feathery, oval to lance shape.

Flowers are single and daisy like.

Flower colours range from white, yellow, pink, mauve, lilac and many shades of each colour.

To encourage larger flowers remove small buds as they appear.

Common Names: Chrysanthemum, mums.

Height: 30cm (12inches).

Chrysanthemum are grown mainly for their flowers and will enhance any garden setting.

Where: Ideal for borders and as general bedding plants.

They make an ideal cut flower and are used extensively by florists worlwide.

Site: Grow them in full sun, they thrive in it!

Soil: Any free draining soil.

By seed in autumn.

Best germination temperature: 68 deg F.

Time from sowing to germination: 10 weeks onwards.

Germination can be very slow, so be patient!
