How to Propagate and Grow
Campanula

Campanula originate from Northern Europe and are a large genus of perennials, some of which are clump forming.

Leaves range from small heart shaped to ivy shape to oval to lance shape.

Flowers range from bell shape to funnel to star shape.

With there being so many species, around three hundred, it makes this garden plant very diverse.

You should be able to find one suitable for any part of your garden.

Species: C. trachelium

Common Names: Bellflower, bats-in-the-bellfry, Coventry-bells.

Classification: Perennial.

Height: 15cm to 60cm (9inches to 24nches).

Flowering: From spring through to early autumn.


Where to plant info

Campanula are exremely popular and can be found in most garden planting schemes.

Where: Ideal in herbaceous borders.

Perfect for use in general mixed borders.

Site: Grow them in full sun, they thrive in it!

They will also do well in partial shade.

Soil: They will do well in any garden soil that is free draining.


Propagation info

By seed in spring.

Best germination temperature: 68 deg F.

Very fine seed do not cover with compost.

Time from sowing to germination: 6 - 8 weeks and onwards, very eratic germination.

Be patient!

Division in spring or autumn.
