Biennial Hesperis

Species: H. matronalis


Common Names: Sweet rocket, dame's rocket.

Classification: Biennial.

Height: 90cm (36inches).

Flowering: From spring through summer.

Usage: Ideal for borders and beds.

Hesperis has an excellent scent which is more prominent in the evening, similar to night scented stock. So grow hesperis where you can enjoy their lovely scent.

Site: Hesperis prefer full sun, they thrive in it!

Hesperis will also do well in partial shade.

Soil: Any rich and free draining soil.


Propagation Methods: By seed in spring.

Best germination temperature: 70 deg F.

Time from sowing to germination: 14 - 21 days.
